I’m planning to write a novel in 2022, so I posted on The Accomplice Page over on Facebook, looking for volunteers to join me.
It’s not that long since the longest piece I’d written was a four thousand word story, and now I have two published novels and a full length memoir out on submission.
Here there are no rules, no pressure, no deadlines. We’re just here to have fun and to do some simple things to make that dream of writing a novel come true.
There's no cost, and it's nothing fancy. Just regular posts here in the comments on the Write With The Accomplice newsletter or over on The Accomplice Facebook Page. Please do join in - either here in the comments, or on the Facebook Page. Or both. Whatever works for you.
Checking in. Reporting progress. Asking for help when we get stuck, and brainstorming solutions. Cheering each other on.
There's going to be no pressure - I live with chronic illness so I understand limited energy. Lots of people have busy lives and it’s hard for them to find time for their own dream projects. So no time limits.
I'm reckoning for me, two months planning and outlining and then one page (300 words) a day, and I can have a first draft finished in a year. Some of you might not want to outline. Some may finish in six months, or two years. We’ll chat about all this stuff as we go along.
There are, some say, as many ways to write a novel as there are writers. Others say each novel requires its own approach. We can experiment as we go along, and discover what works for each of us.
One thing is clear. The only way to write a novel is to sit down and write. I'm not promising it's going to be easy (it’s actually the hardest work I’ve ever done) but I think we can have fun and we'll get further with encouragement from each other, than on our own.
Lots of this we’ll be working out as we go along.
First post proper on New Year’s Day!
Meanwhile, do share, subscribe and introduce yourselves in the comments if you like.

I've never written anything longer than 4,000 words. I never know where to take the beginning of the story next and just get lost. I have several chapter 1s. Maybe I should stitch them all together and make a new genre!
Thank you for adding me Ann. I’m maya, I live in midWales. I’m editing my first novel at the moment.
